ITINERARY

Day 1: Tuesday – Arrival Juneau
Arrive in Juneau (via Seattle) at the airport where you will connect with your flight onward to Haines.

The short, but dramatic flight up the Lynn Canal to Haines will give you a taste of Southeast Alaska –include stunning views of the Mendenhall Glacier, spectacular scenery, and, if we’re lucky, a whale or two. On arriving at the airport in Haines, you will be met by our representative and driven to your lodge. En route, you can stop at the Haines Distillery which produces locally, handcrafted spirits. This warm and welcoming lodge will be your Alaska home for the next 6 nights. Dinner will offer a sampler of the foods of Alaska. Overnight at the Glacier View Lodge (6 nights) Dinner at the Lodge

Day 2: Wednesday – Hiking Around Area
After a late breakfast, by Alaska adventure standards, you will meet your naturalist and guide for the day as you prepare for a hike selected for your group. So much of an Alaska experience is dependent upon the day’s offering of Ms. Nature, so you’ll be prepared with appropriate gear and, of course, lunch. When you arrive back in Haines, you’ll head to the harbor and select dinner from the catch-of-the-day. Back at the lodge, you can debate the merits of the views captured on the hike to those from the deck as you relax with a glass of wine from two of Sonoma County, California’s boutique vineyards. Dinner at the Lodge

Day 3: Thursday – Fishing aboard the “Peggy Sue”
As you already can tell, so much of Southeast Alaska culture and adventure revolves around the water. It almost never is out of sight. After an early breakfast, you will be shuttled down to the Haines small boat harbor for a full day of charter fishing and sightseeing aboard the sport fishing vessel “Peggy Sue.” Yes, she is the only boat in the harbor with her own theme song. (Thanks, to the late Buddy Holly) You’ll see sea lions, waterfalls and spectacular scenery as you experience life on the water and check out some of Captain Vinny’s secret spots. Snacks, beverages and lunch are provided on board. Your catch will become the centerpiece of the sumptuous dinner Vinny and his team will prepare tonight. Dinner at the Lodge

Day 4: Friday –Native American village, Rafting and Eagle Reserve
You begin your day with a sumptuous breakfast at the Lodge. Andy and his team at Haines Rafting Company arrive and drive your group to Klukwan, a native American village outside of Haines. You’ll be treated to a private visit to the Klukwan Cultural Center followed by a tour of the village.

After a picnic lunch, you board rafts for a trip down the Tsirku River, the heart of the Chilcat Bald Eagle Preserve. You stop for a walk on the boardwalk section of the interpretive trail in the preserve. The viewing platform will add another opportunity to observe our national bird in the wild. You return to the lodge in late afternoon where there will be ample time to relax and reflect on the unique experiences of the day. Tonight’s dinner at the lodge will be catered by Haines’ premier chef.

NOTE: This is the largest concentration and population of the bald eagle worldwide!

Day 5: Saturday –Choose from optional 4-wheeler tour, golf (at a 9 hole golf course in Haines), half day fly-fishing, half-day charter fishing
After breakfast, we get to experience one of the “high” lights of our trip to this dramatic part of our world – a flightseeing adventure over Glacier Bay National Park. Covering 3.3 million acres of rugged mountains, stunning glaciers, a lush rainforest, rugged coastlines and deep fjords, Glacier Bay National Park is a highlight of Alaska’s Inside Passage. Part of a 25-million-acre World Heritage Site, it is one of the world’s largest international protected areas. From sea to summit, Glacier Bay offers limitless opportunities for adventure and inspiration” and there is no better way to see it than from the air.

After lunch, you will embark upon the activity that you have chosen at the time of confirming your trip.

NOTE: This reservation will be already made and you just join accordingly.
