Kenneth Chan is an award-winning portrait, event, and travel photographer who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently lives in Globe, Arizona with his wife and two cats.

He is passionate about capturing life’s important memories through beautiful and dramatic images. Pursuing photography professionally is a dream come true! His expertise includes low-light photography, high-dynamic range (HDR) images, action shots, and professional photo editing.

He has enjoyed speaking about and teaching photography workshops for Stanford University, aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area (PPGBA), and the Digital Media Academy for many years to students of all ages and backgrounds. He currently teaches photography and Photoshop classes for Eastern Arizona College, helping students develop compelling portfolios of artwork that showcase their technical skills and personal artistic expression.

When it comes to travel photography, one of the keys to success is being prepared for all of the various lighting situations you will encounter throughout the day. Many photographers, especially those just starting out in photography, are intimidated by the speed at which you need to be able to switch gears as the lighting conditions change. Kenneth will reveal his secrets to getting the shots for every part of the day, including what’s in his gear bag and the purpose of each piece of equipment, how to adjust between photojournalistic and posed portraits, and how to find and create good light wherever you are. Finally, we know that for many photographers, once you’re back in your hotel or home, your work has only just started, so Kenneth is prepared to share his editing workflow for efficiently and beautifully processing hundreds and thousands of images.

Kenneth started his journey in photography when his dad gave him a film SLR camera to use for high school yearbook class. It allowed him to capture the moments that others missed. In college, he was blessed to be an early adopter of digital cameras and quickly became the photographer at most dorm events. According to Kenneth, “the technology is changing so fast, enabling us to see the world through the lens in new ways each day. I can’t wait to see what’s just around the corner!”
