specialLaotians have a variety of regional and rural art forms which include basket weaving, silverwork, goldwork, silk weaving and paper making.   Their life is greatly influenced by their religious belief system, Buddhism, and can be seen by their plentiful Wats or temples through out the country.  Architecture has a French as well as Laotian influence in the larger cities.  That Luang is a national symbol in Laos.  This Grand Stupa, built in the 16th century by King Setthatirath, has a great festival in November during which thousands of devotees gather to pay homage.   Discover the Art of Laos gives you a glimpse into the ancient traditions of this mysterious land.

Day 1 – Luang Prabang
Arrive in Luang Prabang where you will be met and driven to your hotel. 

Day 2 – Luang Prabang
A World Heritage Site, Luang Prabang has 32 temples.  This morning you visit Wat Mai, Wat Visoun and Wat Xieng Thong.  Tour the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center and meet the curator.  Evening Baci welcome ceremony.

Day 3 – Luang Prabang/Pac Ou/Luang Prabang
Cruise the Mekong to Pac Ou to see its caves with many Buddha images.  Visit a nearby village to see silk weaving and mulberry paper making.  Watch the sunset at Mount Phousi.

Day 4 – Luang Prabang
Visit the National Museum known for its Lao and French architecture and royal memorabilia.  Afternoon is free for you to explore as you wish. 

Day 5 – Luang Prabang/Vientiane
Transfer to the airport for you flight to Vientiane where you are met and driven to your hotel.

Day 6 – Vientiane
Visit Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Ko, Patuxai Monument or Victory Gate and the That Luang, a large gold covered Buddhist stupa..

Day 7 – Vientiane
Visit a private textile museum located in beautiful old wooden houses.  In the afternoon visit a local silk weaver and her gallery.

Day 8 – Depart Vientiane
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight or extend your journey with a tour of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
