Bike through rural country roads and mountain trails to see fruit orchards, teak plantations, mountain streams and secluded villages and discover Thailand’s scenic beauty and legendary hospitality along the way. Tour Kanchanaburi and see where the movie Bridge over the River Kwai was shot. Traverse a wooden suspension bridge before arriving at Sai Yok Waterfall. Cycle along the Chao Praiya River to the former summer palace Bang-Pa In. Central and Northern Thailand Cycling Adventure is for you bicyclists who want a grassroots experience.
Day 1 – Bangkok
Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to your hotel. (Park Plaza Sukhumvit)
Day 2 – Bangkok/Kanchanaburi
Depart Bangkok to visit Damnoen Saduak floating market. Cycle through the Mae Klong Delta region, visiting fruit orchards, local temples, and lush countryside. Transfer overland to Kanchanaburi to overnight. (Royal River Kwai Resort) (B/L/D)
Day 3 – Kanchanaburi
Tour Kanchanaburi including the Bridge over the River Kwai before starting your bike ride through teak plantations and small Thai villages to Prasat Muang Sing. Ride around the park and visit the museum before transferring to your riverside hotel. (Phung Wan Resort) (B/L/D)
Day 4 – Kanchanaburi/Ayutthaya
Today’s ride takes you through small communities and over a wooden suspension bridge to Sai Yok Waterfall. After lunch transfer via Suphanburi to Thailand’s ancient capital, Ayutthaya. (Krungsri River Hotel) (B/L)
Day 5 – Ayutthaya/Bangkok
Cycle around the ancient city of Ayutthaya to see temple ruins and the old palace. Cycle through the countryside along the Chao Praya River to the former summer palace at Bang-Pa In. Afterwards transfer by van back to Bangkok, where you will arrive mid-afternoon. (Park Plaza Sukhumvit) (B/L)
Day 6 – Bangkok/Chiang Mai
Fly to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand and transfer to your hotel. (Puripunn Baby Grand Boutique Hotel) (B)
Day 7 – Chiang Mai/Chiang Dao
Transfer overland to Chiang Dao and visit an Elephant Camp. Afterwards begin your ride and pass through tropical forest and plantations, visiting remote Lahu, Lisu and Akha villages along the way. The cycling trip ends at a hill-tribe village, where you will spend the night in basic accommodation at a Padang Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 8 – Chiang Dao/Thatorn
Today is a strenuous cycling day following seldom traveled trails through scenic landscapes of limestone peaks and teakwood forest. Afterwards transfer overland to Ban Thaton for dinner and overnight. (Thatorn Chalet) (B/L/D)
Day 9 – Thatorn/Chiang Rai
Today ride through the Maekok River Valley, passing rice fields and plantations. Take a local long-tail boat transfer down river as the trails ends. Continue cycling along the river to a hot-spring, where you can relax. Continue cycling the last stretch to Chiang Rai, or transfer by truck. (Rimkok Resort) (B/L)
Day 10 –Chiang Rai/Bangkok
Today’s ride follows dirt trails uphill to reach several hill-tribe villages. Cycle down the valley to a scenic waterfall with time to relax with a picnic lunch. Afterwards transfer back to Chiang Rai where you will connect with your flight back to Bangkok. (Park Plaza Sukhumvit) (B/L)
Day 11 – Depart Bangkok
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight, or extend your trip with additional days in Thailand’s capital city. (B)
