Drive to Thimphu, the capital, sprawling up a hillside on the bank of the Thimphu Chhu River. The sights in Thimphu are incredible and include the National Library, the School of Thanka Painting, the Traditional Medicine Institute, the Handicraft Emporium, and the Memorial Chorten (stupa). You also visit Drukgyel Dzong, Simtokha Dzong, Dechenchholing, Tashichho Dzong, Punakha Dzong and Wangdiphodrang Dzong. Discover Bhutan is a glimpse of this remote Buddhist land.

Day 1 – Paro
On arriving at the Paro International Airport, our representative will receive you and escort you to the hotel. After lunch/refreshment in the hotel drive to the National Museum located on a promontory overlooking the valley. Visit the Paro Ringpung Dzong after the museum. The 17th century Dzong still houses the Monk Body and the district administration. In the evening explore the Paro town.

Day 2 – Paro
In Paro, take a short trek to Taktsang Monastery (10 Km) from Paro Town. The name Taktsang means “Tiger’s Nest”. The monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 800m. and overlooks the Paro Valley and the river. It is said that in the second half of the 8th century, Guru Padma Sambhava known as the second Buddha in Bhutan, meditated at the spot where the monastery is situated having alighted there on the back of a flying tigress.

Picnic Lunch at Taktsang.. The round trip hike takes about 4 hrs. In the evening, take a stroll around Paro town.

Day 3 – Paro/Thimphu
Visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong and the National Museum. Drive to Thimphu, en-route visit Simtokha Dzong.

The day begins with a visit to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong (18 km from the hotel). This Dzong is of historical importance from where the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders. On a clear day, the 24000 ft white dome peak of sacred Chomolhari (Mountain of Goddess) can be seen. After lunch at the hotel, we will visit the Dzong, where the National Museum is housed in this ancient watchtower, having a fine collection of ancient thanka paintings, textiles, weapons and artifacts. In the evening, 2 hours drive through Paro will take you to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan (7500 ft). There is an en-route visit to the Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of its kind, which once guarded the Thimphu valley, built by Shabdrung Namgyal in 1627. It is now a religious university.

Day 4 – Thimphu/Punakha
After breakfast, drive to Punakha which is approximately 3 hours drive from Thimphu. The religious head, Je Khampo, used to reside here during the winter. Punakha Dzong houses more than five hundred monks. Visit Punakha Dzong and Wangdiphodrang Dzong. Drive to Thimphu for overnight stay.

Day 5 – Depart Thimphu
