Day 1 – Kigali
On arrival at the Kigali Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your accommodations. Two nights on a full board basis. A welcome dinner at the hotel is arranged for this evening.
Day 2 – Kigali
After breakfast, you will be met at the hotel and taken on a full day of sightseeing in Kigali. Highlights include: Kigali City Tour & the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Lunch is included. You will be returned back to the hotel once the tour has concluded.
Day 3 – Kigali/Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel for your road transfer to Kinigi & Volcanoes National Park. Two nights on a full board basis.
Day 4 – Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trek
After breakfast we take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla tracking. We then hike into the forest to where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point. The trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours. Participants are expected to be in reasonable physical condition. The treks are not extremely demanding but they will require hiking on trails which might proceed a reasonable distance on the mountain. The beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world.
Day 5 – Volcanoes National Park
Today trek to Diane Fossey’s grave, visit the local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. After lunch you will be road transferred back to Kigali. Overnight at on a full board basis.
Day 6 – Kigali/Nyungwe Forest
Today continue on to Nyungwe Forest.
Nyungwe Forest & Chimpanzee Tracking – 2 nights
After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel in Kigali by your driver/guide for your road transfer (approx 4-5 hours) to Nyungwe Forest. On the way visit Nyanza King’s Palace, with lunch en-route. Two nights on a full board basis.
Day 7 – Nyungwe Forest – Chimpanzee Trek
This morning enter the lush rainforest in the search of the chimpanzee. Around 300 bird species, 24 of which are regional endemics and over 100 varieties of orchids and butterflies can be seen in this beautiful forest. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to relax at the lodge or go birding in the area.
Day 8 – Nyungwe Forest/Butare
After breakfast, enjoy a canopy walkway (walk above the tree tops on a suspended bridge offering excellent views of the rainforest, viewing primates and birds at eye level. After lunch, your driver/guide will road transfer you (approx 3 hours) to Butare. One night on a full board basis.
Day 9 – Butare/Nairobi
After breakfast, visit the National Museum of Butare. From there you will be driven back to the Kigali Airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Kenya Safari Etension – 3 nights
Upon arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Int. Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to Hotel Intercontinental. One night on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 10 – Nairobi/Masai Mara
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Nairobi Wilson airport for your 10:00am flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival at 11:00am,you will be met by a camp representative for your transfer to the luxurious Mara Intrepids. Two nights on a full board basis. An afternoon game drive is arranged returning back to camp at dusk for dinner.
Day 11 – Masai Mara
Today enjoy two game drives in the Masai Mara.
Day 12 – Depart Masai Mara/Nairobi
An early morning game drive is arranged, returning to camp for breakfast. After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your 11:00am flight to Nairobi Wilson Airport. On arrival at 12:15pm, you will be met and road transferred to Nairobi International Airport for the start of your homeward journey.
