What will we cover technically?

The main focus of the workshop is to open up your mind’s eye, keenly identify photographic opportunities and make creative decisions, then properly execute it in terms of exposure and composition. The process will cover all elements of design: line, shape, form, texture, pattern and color, as well as techniques like panning, freezing motion, close-up/macro photography, selecting lenses, using of graduated neutral density filter, close-up lens, extension tubes and polarizing filter, experimenting with in-camera multiple exposure, etc. Furthermore, you will also learn to make realistic HDR(High Dynamic Range) images from concept to final output. During the breaks, we will review post-processing workflows, techniques using photoshop, lightroom and some third party plug-ins.

In addition to landscape photography, it also presents abundant opportunities to photograph people in their working and living environment with natural light. We will walk through fields, temples, villages and visit homes of local people. The Bhutanese people, with their colorful dresses will be our perfect portrait subjects. We will also practice off-camera flash lighting for indoor/outdoor portraits when opportunity presents.

What will you need:

Digital SLR, tripod, wide-angle(from 10mm up to 35mm) and telephoto lenses(from 70mm up to 400mm), close-up lens or extension tubes, filters including polarizer, graduated neutral density or any other filters you may have, and of course appropriate clothing for the weather and location.
