Cruise Cambodia to the Mekong (8 days)

Explore Cambodia’s and Vietnam’s natural and cultural beauty by taking a river cruise between the two countries.  Your adventure includes bicycling the countryside and cruising from Tonle Lake to the Mekong aboard the Jayavarman. The Jayavarman is a 20th century boutique style river cruiser with an avant-garde French colonial design with enchanting Indochine architecture to perfection. The Jayavarman is Indochina’s first boutique style river cruise liner and offers luxury at its best. Day 1 – Siam Reap/Tonle Sap Lake
Gather at the meeting point in Siam Reap at noon and transfer to the Jayavarman where the crew is waiting to greet you.  Enjoy a welcome cocktail and lunch.  Your welcome dinner is held in the Indochine dining hall.  Overnight on Tonle Lake.

Day 2 – Tonle Lake/Kampong Chhnang/ Kampong Cham
Set sail before sunrise cross the lake.  Enjoy the spectacular scenery along the river banks of Kampong Province. Take a motorboat excursion from Kampong Chhnang to see the wetlands, floating houses and fish farms in the region. This afternoon cruise the Tonle Sap River, which narrows through leafy swaths of the Southeast Asian Jungle touching Phnom Penh. In the late afternoon enter the upper Mekong River bound to Kampong Cham to stop for a walk through a rural village.  Overnight.

Day 3 – Kampong Cham/ Wat Hanchey
In the morning you are met on board by our Cambodian cycling guide.  Set off on a bicycle exploration of rural Kampong Cham.  Ride from Han Chey pagoda to town and cross the river over a bamboo bridge through picturesque Cambodian villages.  After lunch embark on a short cruise downstream. Visit Wat Nokor, a wat built within the ruins of an ancient temple. Sets sail towards the capital Phnom Penh. Overnight.

Day 4 – Phnom Penh
After breakfast, explore Phnom Penh’s major sights including the National Museums of Khmer Arts, the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and Toul Sleng Museum by bicycle.  Later in the evening enjoy a traditional Apsara dance performance. Experience the brilliance and richness of the culture, the soothing sounds of traditional music, the calming scent of incense sticks. Overnight.

Day 5 – Phnom Penh/ Border Crossing
Cast off for a day of cruising the main Mekong Channel. This is an international shipping route. Visit Pre-K Touch, a lively jungle village. Late afternoon we set off to the Vietnamese border. During the afternoon cruise, take the time to relax on the Sun Deck, get a massage in the Spa, or take part in a Vietnamese cooking class. Overnight.

Day 6 – Chau Doc/Cai Be
Visit Lady Temple who brings strong spirit to the locals in their daily life before beginning today’s boat excursion to the exciting floating villages and catfish farms.  Explore the village of the local Cham community. Overnight.

Day 7 – Cai Be
Cruise among local sampans coming from all provinces of the delta full of fruits and vegetables. Proceed to Dong Hoa Hiep island located between Vinh Long and Cai Be. Discover beautiful landscapes along the river and see typical Mekong Delta rural life.   You can also see the Cai Be’s colorful floating market.  Cruise further to Phu An passing by Cai Be’s beautiful cathedral.  Continue on with a visit to some interesting home factories to see how rice paste, rice cookies and coconut candies, are made, along with the longan fruit drying process.  Back on board for a Farewell Dinner.  Overnight.

Day 8 – My Tho
Cruise down the upper Mekong river South of Saigon to My Tho.  Disembark at 9:00AM.  You may continue your journey to the city of Saigon.
